Projecto WENET quer mobilizar cidadãos

Promovido pela Câmara Municipal de Thiene, uma cidade do Norte de Itália situada na periferia  de Vicenza e contando com a dinamização em Portugal da CNJ – Confederação Nacional dos Jovens Agricultores e do Desenvolvimento Rural (com a consultoria da Caixa de Mitos) o projecto tem por lema as “Trabalhar para cidades capacitadas nos temas ambientais”.

O primeiro encontro europeu realizou-se em Itália nos passados dias 13, 14 e 15 de Novembro. Resumo do evento:

Projecto WE-NET no âmbito da ALDA – Associação Europeia das Agências para a Democracia Local e do Programa Europa para os Cidadãos. Com a CNJ – Confederação Nacional dos Jovens Agricultores e do Desenvolvimento Rural que é a entidade parceira e com Câmara Municipal de Lisboa que apresentou em Thiene a experiência notável dos Eco-bairros com o projecto do bairro da Boavista. Rui Neves Bochmann Franco da CML participou e apresentou uma comunicação na Mesa Redonda com as entidades representantivas das autarquias Locais; Carlos Franco da CNJ orientou um workshop sobre “produzir local, comercializar local” e a Caixa de Mitos Carlos Ribeiro) coordenou a mesa do World Café sobre as iniciativas a promover para influenciar as autoridades locais na adopção convicta da Reciclagem….a nível local. RESUMO DOS ORGANIZADORES:

The first international event of WE-NET: Working for Environmentally Educated Towns took place in Thiene (Vicenza), Italy, on 13-15 November and gathered all the partners of the project.

The project, funded by Europe for Citizens Programme and led by the Municipality of Thiene, aims to promote recycling and selective waste sorting within an urban environment by establishing a network of municipalities and civil society associations from across Europe, which will exchange experience and best practices on the topic. The project is also expected to involve actively citizens, in particular youngsters and disadvantaged groups, in order to raise public awareness on and educate people to recycling issues and sustainable development.

The opening conference session The added value of the multistakeholder approach to reaching the objectives of the Environment Action Programme to 2020 was introduced by Andrea Zorzan, Councillor for Environment of Thiene Municipality, and Mr. Alessandro Perelli, Vice-President of ALDA. A round table focusing on What role for local authorities and civil society associations to promoting sustainable development? Examples of good practices throughout Europe was also held. The afternoon was dedicated to the “World Café” activity, during which the partners of the 12 delegations could get to know each other and discussed about  about the strategies for sustainability at the local level. The meeting of Executive Committee concluded the first day of work.

During the morning of 14th November, the participants organized and attended parallel thematic workshops focusing on educating citizens to sustainable development, on the management of stakeholders, and on the use of compost and IT tools for selective waste sorting and recycling in order to showcase and exchange best practices implemented locally. On the afternoon, the group had the chance to visit the incinerator in Schio, near Thiene.
